The primary goal of this book is to encourage an increase in the level of awareness for the reader. Doing this should help the driver/reader become much more alert to traffic conditions around them as they operate their vehicles.
Since this book can not accomplish the above goal by merely sighting statistics, I utilize my own family’s driving experiences, wherever possible. I do this to help establish a common ground for the reader to see me as a fellow driver. I try to paint these experiences with sufficient detail to put the reader as close to the event mentally as they can be. In doing this I hope they will “feel” the pain we felt and learn from it.
My experience in the insurance field has repeatedly taught me that most people don’t have a clue about their insurance coverage even though they pay significant amounts of money for it. I attempt to break their coverage down in a way that is palatable as well as useful. My goal here is to educate people on what they need for proper protection rather than find out AFTER an accident what they should have had.
The reader should walk away from this book with a concrete understanding that “driving safely is no accident.” Embodied in the understanding of that phrase will be a happier commuting life.
